After years
in the marketing field and with my MBA in my hip pocket, I decided
to do something I wanted to do. Not on my original bucket list,
but more on my do-something-for-the-community-list. They say it
takes a learning impaired person to start a business during a
recession. But, I saw a need in downtown Amarillo for a spunky
kind of place and seeing how people without their daily dose of
caffeine might make the effects of the recession worse, I simmered
and percolated until I found just the right blend of optimism
and hard work: my mantra: from the ground up! The Ground Cafe
began to take root.
Beanology
So, I focused
my marketing enthusiasm into my Beanology degree... that would
be long hours as a barista learning from and listening to my clientele;
what they wanted, and more importantly, what they didn’t
want.
My fledgling
space began to transform before my eyes, and with a distinct intuition
about
old-fashioned service, and help from friends and customers alike...
coffee enthusiasts began to take notice and to understand our
way of thinking... get it from the ground.
Of course,
being on the ground floor of the Chase building just seemed to
lend to the synchronicity of my venture.

You too can
become a Beanologist. Whether you’re a novice or a java
sommelier,
there’s always something new to learn about the art of coffee
and the best place to start is: the ground. |
